Frequently Asked Questions About Living in South Jordan, Utah
by Tiffany Rich & Wayne Burton
Thinking about a move to South Jordan? We get asked a lot of the same questions from buyers, and honestly, they're good questions — the kind that actually help you figure out if a city is right for your family (or your next chapter). We're Tiffany Rich and Wayne Burton, a father-daughter team with Family Ties Realty, and South Jordan is one of the areas we know best. Here's our honest, no-fluff answer to the questions we hear most.

What Are Home Prices and the Cost of Living Like in South Jordan?
South Jordan isn't the cheapest city in the valley, but it holds its value well. As of our latest market update, the median price sits around $614,632, with homes spending about 58 days on market on average — enough breathing room that buyers still have some negotiating power. You'll find townhomes and smaller condos starting in the $400,000s, while larger single-family homes — especially in Daybreak — run well into the $700,000s and up. Day-to-day cost of living runs a bit above the national average, mostly because of housing, but groceries and everyday expenses actually come in below average, and it's still noticeably more affordable than cities like Sandy or Draper closer to the mountains.
What Are the Best Neighborhoods in South Jordan?
This is where South Jordan really stands out — it's not one neighborhood, it's a patchwork of very different ones. Daybreak is the name everyone knows, and for good reason: it's built around Oquirrh Lake, with parks, shops at SoDa Row, and homes for nearly every budget and stage of life. On the east side of the city, Glenmoor is one of our favorites for buyers who want more established, larger-lot homes around the Glenmoor Golf Course, and Springhouse Village and Country Estates offer that same settled, family feel.
If you're downsizing or just done with yard work, pay attention to this part: South Jordan has some genuinely great 55+ options, including Garden Park in Daybreak with its own pool, gym, and pickleball courts just a few blocks from the lake, SpringHouse Village with its resort-style amenities and built-in social scene, and Harvest Villas, which is a quieter, low-key spot near the clubhouse and gym. Helping people find the right next home for this stage — not just any home — is a big part of what we do as a father-daughter team. We go deeper on all three in Best South Jordan Neighborhoods for Downsizers in 2026, so if this is you, we'd genuinely love to talk through your options.
How Are the Schools in South Jordan?
South Jordan is served by Jordan School District, with eight elementary schools, three middle schools, and Bingham High School, plus five tuition-free charter schools scattered across the city. One thing worth knowing: not every South Jordan address feeds into Bingham — homes in the Daybreak area actually feed into Herriman High, so it's worth confirming the exact boundary before you fall in love with a house. We put together a full breakdown of every public and charter school in the city — names, grade levels, addresses, and links to each school's website — in our school guide here: A Parent's Guide to Schools in South Jordan, Utah.
What Is the Commute Like from South Jordan?
South Jordan sits right along Bangerter Highway and the Mountain View Corridor, so getting around the valley is genuinely easy. Salt Lake City is about 16 miles away — roughly 18-20 minutes by car, or about 20 minutes on TRAX from the Daybreak station if you'd rather skip the drive. Lehi and the Silicon Slopes tech corridor are about 19 minutes south. That said, South Jordan does show up with one of the longer average commute times in the state, so where exactly you work in the valley matters — it's one of the first things we ask clients so we can pick a neighborhood that actually makes your mornings easier.
What Outdoor Recreation Is Available in South Jordan?
This is one of our favorite things to show buyers who aren't from here yet. Oquirrh Lake in Daybreak is the centerpiece — an 80-acre stocked lake with a flat, paved loop trail that's great for biking, walking, or just getting outside with kids or a dog. From there, the Jordan River Parkway runs right through the city, part of a paved trail system that stretches over 60 miles from Utah Lake up to the Great Salt Lake. Add in the city's own growing network of parks and neighborhood trails, and South Jordan genuinely gives you more green space, water, and places to move your body than people expect from a Salt Lake Valley suburb.
What Makes South Jordan a Great Place to Call Home?
Between the schools, the trail system, the easy commute, and a real variety of neighborhoods — from starter townhomes to established golf-course homes to 55+ communities — South Jordan works for a lot of different life stages, which is exactly why we love working here. Whether you're raising a family, upsizing, or ready to simplify and downsize into something that fits your next chapter, this city has a place for you.
